The teams:

Tranmere Rovers Rochdale Chester City Bury Grimsby Town Liverpool West Bromwich Albion Burnley

venue

The tournament will be played at our usual home pitch which is quite literally a stones throw from Prenton Park, home of Tranmere Rovers.  There are two full-size grass pitches at the venue which are both used for the tournament.

In addition, there is space for teams to have a small warm-up, sleep or in Grimsby's case last year - a  game of cricket!  That must-have Worldnet accessory the 'gazeebo' was also in evidence in 2007 thanks to Stockport County.

The pitch is easy to find off the M53 or via Liverpool off the M62, and all the nightlife and attractions of Wirral and Liverpool are within a fove or ten minute drive.

Tournament specific facilities:

  • Six changing rooms (these will not be locked on the day)
  • Two full-size grass football pitches

  • Hot showers
  • Hot and cold food and drinks
  • On-street parking or limited car park space
  • Tournament reception (with results, schedules, tables, bibs, spare matchballs, etc)

How to get there:

Nearest postcode:

By car from M53 (from the South):

(M6, M56, M53) Exit the M53 at Junction 4.  Take the fourth exit on roundabout signposted Tranmere Rovers FC, onto the B5151 (Mount Road). Continue for around 2.5 miles (Mount Road becomes Storeton Road).  When you reach the small double roundabout, you're turning right.  (2nd exit on first roundabout, 2nd exit on second roundabout).

You're now on Singleton Avenue.  Follow this until the end and turn left onto Borough Road.  Follow this down towards Prenton Park.  The pitches are on the left immediately before Prenton Park.

By car from M62:

When you come to the end of the M62 go straight on through the lights and follow the signs for Tunnels (Birkenhead).  Once you're in the City Centre you will follow more specific directions for the Birkenhead Tunnel (not Wallasey).   It's £1.30 toll at the Wirral end. When you come out use the tolls on your furthest right. When paid, immediately bear right onto the fly-over, It's signposted Tranmere Rovers FC.

Follow fly-over down onto main road. Follow the main road for two minutes until you come to Tranmere's ground through a few sets of lights. The pitches are on your right on this road immediately after the ground.

Additional off-street parking:  Shaftesbury Youth Club have a small car park that will be open on the day and is free.  To use this, see their website for address and post code.  click here

Rail:  (from any Liverpool station: James St, Lime St, Cental, Moorfields) Take the Wirral Line.  If in large groups get off at Hamilton Square, any Wirral train will go to Hamilton Square, and throw a couple of quid in between you all for a couple of taxis. It's only two minutes but its the easiest way. If you  tell the taxi driver "Borough Road by Tranmere Rovers". The pitches are right after the ground just beyond the smallest stand next to a Van Sales garage.

Alternatively, board a train to Ellesmere Port or Chester and get off at Rock Ferry.  It is quite a walk from here though so if you intend to take this option email for further details.
